Douglas County Economic Indicators - August 2026
The August 2026 Douglas County Economic Indicators are out now. You can find them attached and updated every month on our Quality Info Southwestern Oregon regional info page.
Douglas County’s nonfarm employment declined by 1% (-210 jobs) over the year to July. Losses in construction (-90), retail trade (-130) and manufacturing (-190) were counterbalanced by a gain of 300 jobs in private education and health services.
Unemployment was stable over the year. The current seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 6.1%, essentially unchanged from the year before.
Graph of the Month: Average wages per worker have risen in recent years, adjusted for inflation. Douglas County’s average wage was 77% of the state’s in 2025, a slight increase from 2020.
Average wages have increased since 2001, even taking into account the rising cost of living. However, relative to the state’s average Douglas has lost a little ground over that time. In 2005, Douglas’s average wage was about 84% of the state’s.
