If you read the newsletter each month wishing there was more about your local area, you’re in luck! Oregon’s Labor Market Information shop geocodes information each year to provide data on employment and wages at the city level, or for custom geographies. This month I looked at our most recent release of that data to see the top sectors of employment for the areas within Douglas County, where there’s a good deal of variation.
Douglas County overall, as well as the cities of Reedsport, Roseburg, and Riddle, have the most employment in Health Care and Social Assistance. The other cities vary in their largest sector as well as concentration in that sector. Rural Douglas County, outside of its Urban Growth Boundaries (UGBs), has the most employment concentrated in Manufacturing, as do several smaller cities.
