The April 2025 edition of the Douglas County Economic Indicators can also be found at this QualityInfo.org link.
Over the year, Douglas County employment declined by 100. Jobs were added in government and private health services, with gains in transportation, warehousing and other services as well. Since March of 2024, jobs declined in manufacturing, trade, and financial activities. The unemployment rate was 5.7%, which is slightly higher than the same time in 2024.
We just released 2024 annual employment data on Quality Info, and this month I wanted to take a moment to use that data to look at how our jobs differ from the state. The black box in the graph below represents the percentage of the job total in Oregon, with the blue bar showing the percent of jobs in Douglas County.

Our jobs look similar to the state, although Douglas had comparatively more employment in health care, manufacturing, natural resources and government. The county had comparatively fewer jobs in professional services, construction, and financial activities in 2024.
This month’s articles included:
Douglas County Building Permits Drop in 2024 on Quality Info

As always, the Indicators contain all the latest economic data on our area. If you have a data question or want to learn more about any of these topics, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
