South Coast Economy

 

Total nonfarm employment grew by 80 jobs over the year in Coos County to 23,150. The professional and business services sector experienced the greatest employment gains with 110 jobs. Trade, transportation, and utilities experienced the greatest employment losses with 120 jobs.

 

Total nonfarm employment grew by 40 jobs over the year in Curry County to 6,610. The professional and business services sector experienced the greatest employment gains with 50 jobs. Trade, transportation, and utilities and financial activities experienced the greatest employment losses with 40 jobs.

Special Topic: Median Home Values


This month’s special topic highlights median home values 2010-2023 using the most current data available.

 

Median home values in Coos County have risen from $170,000 in 2012-2016 to $303,000 in 2019-2023, an increase of $133,000 or 78%. This was a reversal from the period 2010-2016 when homes lost $24,900 in value, a decline of 13%.

 

Median home values in Curry County have risen from $221,300 in 2013-2017 to $366,700 in 2019-2023, an increase of $145,400 or 66%. This was a reversal from the period 2010-2017 when homes lost $45,500 in value, a decline of 17%.
