South Coast Economy
Total nonfarm employment grew by 320 jobs over the year in Coos County to 23,110. The professional and business services sector experienced the greatest employment gains with 210 jobs. Trade, transportation, and utilities experienced the greatest employment losses with 60 jobs.
Total nonfarm employment grew by 30 jobs over the year in Curry County to 6,440. Each of the following sectors added 20 jobs:
Government
Private education and health services
Manufacturing

This month’s special topic highlights educational attainment 1994-2024 using the most current data available.
In 2024 more than half of the workforce (53%) in Coos County had some college level education. Roughly one in five workers hold a bachelor’s or advanced degree. The share of the labor force with less than a high school diploma increased by 2 percentage points over this thirty year timespan.
